GordonREES1919-2014 The funeral took place on 19th March 2014 at Lodge Hill Cemetery, Selly Oak of the late Mr Evan Gordon Rees, aged 95 years, of Bryony House Residental Home and formerly Harborne. Mr Rees was born in Tredegar, South Wales, working in the mines as a young man and had lived in Birmingham since 1939. He had been a widower since losing his beloved wife Margaret in 1952. He served as a sergeant in the Army during the Second World War being stationed in India, Burma and West Africa. He worked in several factories in Birmingham including I.C.I and Cadbury's and for the last 10 years of his working life was employed by British Rail. He was a very sociable and well liked man and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. The funeral was arranged by the Co-op Funeral Services, Quinton, the service conducted by the Rev. Alison Geary and attended by Mr Rees's family and friend. Mourners- Daniel John Rees, Brother (Australia) (Unable to attend), Ken Rees and Gillian Edwards, Nephew and Niece, Suzanne Rees, Graham and Jackie Rees and Family (Australia) (unable to attend). Jacqueline Price and Eddie Price (Unable to attend). Philip and Layna Hardwick, Nieces and Nephews Marion and Roy Tyler, Dorothea Brace and Caroll Lewis, Cousins Martin and Jan Lewis, Nephew and Niece (Unable to attend) Guy and Victoria Lewis, Nephew and Niece (unable to attend) and Helen Newman, very close family friend. Floral Tributes- Loving Brother Dan (Australia) Ken, Gill and family, Suzanne (Australia), Graham, Jackie and family (Australia) Jacqueline and Eddie, Philip and Layna. Cousins Marion, Roy and Dorothea, Caroll and families, Martin, Jan, Guy and Victoria and Helen. Acknowledgement- Ken and all the family would like to thank every one who attended the funeral of a much loved uncle, cousin and friend. Special gratitude to Gordon's late cousin Evan Lewis for his friendship, support and love all through Gordon's long life. Sincere appreciation also for all the care and kindness shown by the Nurses, Doctors and Staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and to the wonderful Carers at Bryony House who made Gordon's stay so happy. Finally thanks to the ladies at the Co-op Funeral Services, especially Chris, for all their kindness and help and to the Rev Alison Geary for a very fitting, warm and personal funeral service.
